48 Pillars

Senderos (Pathways) Xilopainting, Acrylic on wood panels, Diptych plus details, Sold on the Collector’s Preview Evening

48 Pillars, February 25- April 8, 2023

Twenty-four local Bay Area artists produced two companion pieces or diptychs on identical-sized panels. The panels exactly ringed the gallery - 48 works total. It is essentially a “structural constraint” show. The artists are unconstrained in subject matter, except to the extent that works need to be a series, but they are constrained in format.

We are presented with various pathways throughout our lives, causing us to make choices. However, we never truly know if we are taking the “right” path. Only in retrospect can we see where we have traveled and if the journey has supported our purpose. This piece has several pathways and ladder shapes. Sometimes, we are ascending, and other times, descending. Trust and optimism propel us forward, always seeking a path that resonates within us.
